The M4 MacBook Air: Just One Thing

The M4 MacBook Air has landed in the studio and I’ve had a chance to test out the base model.

Overall, the M4 MacBook Air is a great option for those seeking a powerful, portable Mac, especially for tasks like video editing and coding. Although, I do recommend a higher storage option to maximize the experience.

The M4 MacBook Air is capable of handling demanding tasks and even playing games, which I tested Resident Evil Village at 1440p as well as editing a 4K multi-cam video timeline. Even with these heavy loads, it remains cool and efficient.

As far as the price drop that everyone is talking about for the base model, While the price is down, I do think this is a necessary move from Apple, not a gift to consumers because of the softening economy we’re seeing at this time. However, the M4 Air offers excellent performance at a price point that is competitive with other Macs.

Just to reiterate here, which I haven’t usually recommended this upgrade, but bumping up the storage to provide more breathing room for files and prevent performance bottlenecks is the one thing I’d change.

While you can edit and play games on an external drive, having enough space on the internal drive ensures a smooth experience, especially with that swap memory.
