Can you vlog with the Sony a6400 and Sigma 16mm? In this video I try to answer your questions about whether the Sony a6400 and Sigma 16mm f1.4 is the best vlogging camera on a budget.
One of the biggest reasons that many ask this question is that the Sony a6400 does not have in body image stabilization (IBIS) and the Sigma 16mm does not have optical steady shot (OSS) in the lens. So, can you still get usable video footage when you're vlogging handheld? You be the judge based on this hike I took in Boulder where the ground was definitely not paved and consisted of multiple obstacles and rough terrain.
There are no fancy tricks with this footage, very simple B-Roll, and pretty much what you see is what you get. I color corrected and slowed down some of the B-Roll sections in certain parts, which was filmed in 120fps. Otherwise, the main portion of this (A-Roll) was filmed in 4K 24fps.
Based on your personal preference, many of you may have to make additional accommodations or tweaks to your setup to get the best possible footage. Using a camera strap can help stabilize some of your B-Roll footage, however for your A-Roll you may have to consider a tripod or handheld approach that fits your particular needs.
